Data handling and security

What it does

Clay is a data enrichment and workflow tool that can score an inbound lead and write the score to HubSpot or Salesforce, once you've built that flow from its parts.

Its Workflows doc lists inbound lead qualification and routing among the common things people build. A run starts when a form, or anything else that can POST to a Clay webhook, sends a lead in.

Clay says it enriches inbound leads with data such as company size, tech stack, job titles and intent signals.

Scoring is a column you add. In Clay's Salesforce lead-scoring guide, formula and AI columns return a number and an A, B or C tier per lead, and an Update record action writes both to custom fields. For HubSpot, Clay's guide writes them to a property.

The Salesforce guide then assigns A-tier leads to an owner by round robin and notifies the rep, "so a hot lead reaches a human fast." Clay's Slack doc lists a "Send message to channel" action for posting each one to a channel as well.

None of the pages I read describes a built-in flag for the leads worth a call today, which is what this job is for. You define it, as a Slack message or a CRM field.

Workflows is in open beta, the doc says, and you turn it on from your workspace settings.

Who it fits

Clay fits a company of more than 10 people with a RevOps or GTM engineer to build and maintain the flow, and a budget for the Growth plan or above.

I'd shortlist Clay if you already use it for outbound data.

Without a builder, I think one of the more packaged inbound lead qualification agents is a shorter path, or you can weigh having one built to your rules.

Limitations

Clay's Inbound SDR Agent, which Clay says asks leads qualifying questions by voice, wasn't on sale in October 2026. Its page has a waitlist and says it "ships in phases starting Fall 2026".

Clay's roles doc says table-level view restriction isn't supported, so members can see every table once they're invited to a workspace.

On Clay's HubSpot App Marketplace listing, 17% of ratings were one star in October 2026, and the listing names a "Pro+ plan" that the current pricing page doesn't list.

Clay's post on its own inbound process says personal emails are "a lot harder to enrich", which matters if many of your form fills use personal addresses.
