Product management courses teach the four stages of the product life cycle. In my experience, few people can name the stage of a real product on the spot.
A slowing product is not a dying one, and a loud launch is not growth. Those two confusions are where I expect most wrong answers.

- How do you tell maturity from decline?
- Maturity is slowing growth with sales still rising and competitors fighting over share. Decline is sales falling year after year as a substitute takes over, often with the vendor itself announcing an end of support or a shutdown.
