What it does

Ramp Bill Pay is the accounts payable tool in Ramp's finance platform, and its documentation has it turning supplier invoices into draft bills, coded on Plus, that go through approval, sync to the accounting system and get paid.

Invoices come in by forwarding to a dedicated @ap.ramp.com address or by drag and drop. Ramp's help center says it creates draft bills from invoices and credit memos, and filters out exact duplicates and files it can't process. On Plus, Ramp can also watch one connected Gmail inbox, a feature it calls AP inbox automation.

Smart OCR, a Plus feature, identifies the vendor, checks that vendor's past invoices and applies custom instructions you write in plain language, Ramp says. Bill Pay's auto-coding agent then helps fill accounting fields like the GL category, department and location on the bill and its line items, per the help center.

Ramp says it performs two-way and three-way matching against purchase orders. The pricing table puts three-way match with imported purchase orders on Plus and Enterprise.

Bills sync to QuickBooks Online or Xero on Free and to NetSuite, Sage Intacct and other ERPs on Plus, and the pricing page lists Workday and Oracle Fusion Cloud integrations on Enterprise. Ramp then pays them by ACH, card, check or wire, which goes past where this job ends.

No independent source I could read measures the 99% OCR accuracy Ramp's AP page claims.

Who it fits

Ramp pitches Bill Pay at small businesses, mid-sized companies and multi-entity groups, and the plan you pick decides how much of the invoice job it does.

Free has OCR, approval workflows, fraud checks and bill payments, which suits a small team that is happy to code its own bills.

You can try Plus free for 30 days, though Ramp's pricing page doesn't give the amount of the platform fee.

In October 2026 Ramp's AP page also listed per-payment fees, among them standard ACH at $0.59, standard checks at $1.99 and domestic wires at $15, in US dollars.

I'd budget for Plus. Get the platform fee in writing, then allow for the staff time and training a vendor quote leaves out.

Ramp says Bill Pay "works as a standalone AP automation solution", without its cards or expense tools. If you're on Ramp for cards or expenses, I'd try Bill Pay before buying a separate invoice tool, since it's AI inside software your team already uses.

Limitations

The main limits of Ramp Bill Pay are that Smart OCR and auto-coding are "exclusively available to Ramp Plus customers", as its help center puts it, and that AP inbox automation and AP policy review were still in Beta in October 2026.

Ramp's OCR article says OCR reads only the document set as the invoice, once per bill, so changing the invoice file doesn't re-run it.

Once Gmail is connected, Ramp doesn't also process emails sent through AP forwarding, its AP agents article says.

According to the Ramp Plus overview in its help center, the Plus subscription and Bill Pay fees you pay Ramp don't sync to the ERP and have to be accounted for by hand.

The Xero App Store listing says invoices are shared one way, "from Ramp to Xero", while payments, contacts and tracking categories go both ways.

Ramp's integrations page names SAP only as SAP SuccessFactors, an HR system, and doesn't list an SAP ERP.

Audit reports on Ramp's trust center sit behind an access request and an NDA. Ramp's privacy policy doesn't say whether customer invoice content is used to train models.
