What it does

Dext says it reads supplier invoices sent in by email, its mobile app, WhatsApp or desktop upload, and publishes them to your accounting software.

Its extraction is over 99% accurate, the homepage says.

I'd set a target for how many invoices should post without a correction and test against it on your own documents before you sign.

Supplier rules set default values for each supplier, among them the category, tax rate, invoice due date and payment method, according to Dext's help centre.

Dext says its AI Assist add-on suggests automations based on how your team has handled suppliers, categories and splits.

According to Dext's publishing articles, an unpaid invoice arrives in QuickBooks Online as a bill waiting to be paid. Xero files it under Bills to pay. Dext attaches the original image or PDF in both.

Auto-publish, the help centre says, sends eligible items to the ledger under rules set for a supplier, a payment method or the whole account.

Who it fits

Dext fits small and mid-sized businesses that keep their books in QuickBooks Online or Xero and want supplier invoices coded and approved before they post.

In October 2026, Dext's US pricing page asked anyone setting up more than five business entities to get in touch about bespoke pricing.

I'd shortlist it if most of your invoices come from repeat suppliers, since supplier rules do the coding. Dext's help centre says approvals aren't available in Dext Solo and need admin access to set up, so check which product you sign up for.

If you're on NetSuite, or need purchase orders matched line by line, compare the other invoice processing agents. On SAP, weigh building one instead.

Limitations

According to Dext's help centre, purchase order matching works only with Xero and QuickBooks Online. Dext uses the PO number it extracts and the supplier name to help find the matching purchase order, which you select from a dropdown. It warns you when the item total doesn't match the PO total, and you can't match several purchase orders to one cost item.

Dext's Connect & export help articles list no NetSuite or SAP connection. Auto-publish doesn't work with Sage 50 or QuickBooks Desktop, the help centre says.

In October 2026 Dext's pricing page listed line-item extraction as a paid add-on, from $20.50 per month or pay-as-you-go from $0.50 per document, after free credits for 5 documents with line items. Documents over the monthly limit still upload, the same page says, but get no data extraction until the next bill date or an upgrade.

Annual plans need 30 days' notice before renewal to cancel, the pricing page says.

Dext's security page was last updated in August 2024 and its privacy policy in July 2024. The security page cites AWS's SOC 1 and 2 compliance but no SOC 2 report for Dext itself.
