What it does
BILL Accounts Payable takes in supplier invoices, codes them with AI, routes them through your approval rules and syncs the bills to your accounting system, according to BILL's product pages.
Suppliers email invoices to a dedicated AP address, and the product page says BILL starts processing them "automatically upon arrival". Paper invoices go in as PDF scans dragged into BILL or as photos taken with your phone.
BILL says its Invoice Coding Agent predicts line-item coding for the chart of accounts, class, department, location, customer and job, and learns your habits from "up to five of the most recent bills" for each vendor.
On Corporate you can raise purchase orders and match invoices against them with tolerance rules; the pricing table offers the same to Essentials and Team through a Procurement add-on. Enterprise adds 3-way matching, footnoted "Features vary by accounting software".
After approval, BILL can also pay the bill by ACH, virtual card, international wire or paper check.
Who it fits
BILL Accounts Payable fits a small or mid-sized business on QuickBooks or Xero that wants invoices captured, coded, approved and paid in one product.
Team is the first plan that includes the AI coding and automatic sync, so I'd price it from there. Corporate is worth a look if several managers approve bills but never enter them, since it adds a discount for approver-only users.
Enterprise's pricing card asks you to request a demo.
If you pay bills somewhere else and only need invoices read and coded into your ledger, I'd compare it with the other AI agents for invoice processing first. Under 100 invoices a month, I wouldn't pay for a custom build to get standard coding and approval rules.
Limitations
BILL Accounts Payable syncs with QuickBooks Enterprise, NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Microsoft Dynamics only on its custom-priced Enterprise plan, according to its pricing page.
On the Xero App Store, one reviewer wrote that closing accounting periods "totally breaks the sync", and another that attached files "never sync to Xero". Those reviews carry no dates.
Two Trustpilot review headlines, from September and October 2026, cite poor customer service and broken written promises, but the site rates the whole company, payees included.
BILL's payment approvals page says administrators "can pay unapproved bills, as long as those bills have the required approvers assigned". If separation of duties matters to you, check who holds the administrator role.
On common invoice fields, BILL's AI page puts extraction accuracy at about 99% "under tested conditions", footnoted as based on "the top 20% of common bills", and says results "vary by invoice layout and data quality".
Neither BILL's privacy notice nor its security page says whether customer data trains its AI. An October 2026 post on BILL's blog calls the payment volume behind its AI "a training advantage".
